ARTWORK

PETER BLUE’S ART TAKES THE FORM OF PAINTING, COLLAGE, SCULPTURE AND MOBILES that are characterized by vibrant acrylic colors, symmetry and balance. These unique creations incorporate a variety of materials, dream-like imagery and motion as they follow gravity’s path. Like his mobiles, Peter’s paintings are characterized by vibrant acrylic color, symmetry and balance. Many of Peter’s paintings are inspired by eastern and western religious imagery. His mediums also include collage and painted wood reliefs, Commissions invited.

This exhibition of recent work by Peter Blue opened last July at the Edge of Maine Frame Shop and Gallery in Brownfield Maine. The show included mobiles, wall reliefs and other sculptural pieces constructed of wood, metal and found objects. Using bold acrylic colors, Blue’s work incorporates childhood fantasies and playful thinking into a dream world of free association reminiscent of surrealism with references to religious imagery and conflict. His mobiles reflect a debt to Alexander Calder as well as his own unique approach to following gravity’s path. He maintains a studio/gallery in Snowville NH.
